Methylaluminoxane (MAO) is a low molecular weight oligomer obtained by partial hydrolysis of trimethylaluminum. It is a white, amorphous powder at room temperature and pressure, sensitive to moisture and air, and can be dissolved in aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, and xylene.
